Lastar Radio is Southern Alberta's largest First Nation radio station. We are located on the Blood Reserve and operate on 89.9 F.M. We have been operating since 1996 and our mission statement is to " inform, entertain and enhance the Blackfoot Nation and surrounding communities"
History
Since our humble beginnings, we have grown in terms of extended coverage, quality programming and increased our overall listening audience. This has been a major accomplishment and has resulted in providing reasonable advertising rates and unlimited public service initiatives.
Transmitting
Lastar Radio currently trasnmits at 150 watts on the F.M. band. Due to our elevation (2,200 meters above sea level) we are able to broadcast to the Blood and Piikuni Reserves, we are also able to reach other surrounding communities, these include: Cardston, Fort Macleod, Hillspring, Glenwood and Magrath. We have a loyal listening audiience estimated at approximately 20,000.
